Your questions, answered.

Everything you need to know about joining Expressable — before your conversation with our team.

We believe that when we invest in our people, progress happens faster and we do our best work.

🌐
Everyone should have access
Nearly 50% of people with a communication disorder don't have access. We're changing that with national coverage and insurance access — including Medicaid.
👨‍👩‍👧
Families should be part of therapy
Research shows caregiver empowerment and home practice improve clinical outcomes. Our platform makes it easy for families to reinforce progress between sessions.
🏠
Clinicians deserve a better experience
You shouldn't have to make career tradeoffs. Every clinician deserves an employment option that fits your needs — not the other way around.
Technology should save time
Too much time is spent on admin work that technology can improve. Our clinician-built tools exist to free you up for the parts of this work you love.

The full-time exempt compensation model at Expressable has 3 parts:

Part 1
Base Salary
Determined by years of experience, cost of living location, and the ability to treat and evaluate bilingually.
Part 2
Recurring Scheduling Earnings (RSE)
Recurring wages tied to the amount of high-demand availability in your schedule. The more high-demand hours you hold, the higher your earnings — and the more patients are served.
Part 3
Care Delivery / Productivity Bonus
Once you hit at or above 75% productivity of scheduled direct care hours, every additional completed hour earns an extra +$40/hr on top of your clinical rate.
Clients self-schedule on our website or are referred by physicians and partners. Matching criteria include your state of residence, preferred availability, clinical areas, and insurance enrollments. Initial evaluations can be 60 minutes or split into two 30-minute sessions, and ongoing sessions (30 min) are scheduled directly on your calendar. Session frequency is typically 2×/week but varies by client need.
Your caseload is based on your scheduling option selection (30–40 hours), client visit frequency (per clinical recommendation), and attendance. With a current productivity target of 75%, a therapist with 40 hours of availability typically completes at least 30 direct hours per week.
Caseload ramp times vary based on credentialing status, state licenses, clinical areas, and availability. Times available in a therapist's calendar after 3:30 PM onward typically fill the fastest due to client demand preferences — afterschool, afternoon, and evenings M–F, and weekends. To support patient access, evaluations, sessions, or reassigned sessions or evaluations can be scheduled the same day, or up to 3 weeks in advance.

These categories support patient access by connecting patients with the right clinician and supporting continuity of care. Patients and families don't always know their underlying issue — these areas help patients get in the door more easily. That's also why Expressable has deeply invested in our clinical education and support teams to ensure our therapists are equipped to provide the highest quality care.

Expressable has strict attendance policies in place to ensure client attendance and high quality clinical outcomes. In the exempt model, you are compensated whether or not a client attends their appointment. Therapists are expected to follow up to reschedule missed appointments to maintain continuity of care.

Our hourly model is perfect for therapists looking for a part-time, consistent caseload made up of sessions and evaluations.

It is a non-exempt model that compensates equally for both direct clinical contact as well as associated indirect work (i.e., documentation, session/evaluation planning) based on expected reasonable prep/documentation time by CPT code. The supplemental rate applies to any clinical time beyond the allotted prep/documentation, all non-clinical work, and the training/onboarding week.

This ensures fair pay for all work while encouraging efficient clinical documentation and prep.

Hourly rates are based on years of experience, cost-of-living location, and ability to treat bilingually, and range from $40–$58/hr.

Your caseload is based on your scheduling option selection, client visit frequency (per clinical recommendation), and attendance.
Currently, the vast majority of clients seek services after 3:30 PM M–F and on the weekends, so we ask that therapists provide availability within those times.
In the hourly part-time model, we seek at least 7 hours of availability so that you can meet the minimum completed direct requirement of 5 direct hours weekly.

Productivity measures productive time vs. total working time — not a predictor of direct hours. Average productivity is 75–85%, fluctuating with eval-heavy weeks (more documentation, lower) vs. session-heavy weeks (less documentation, higher).

You accrue unpaid time off based on hours worked, up to 3 weeks per benefit year. For example, if you work 8 hours a week on average, you can accrue up to 24 hours a year. UTO is used as planned, approved schedule reductions, and up to 1.5 weeks rolls over annually.
Sick time accrues at 1 hour per 30 hours worked, capped at 40 hours. It is never forfeited — the cap only pauses further accrual.
Health insurance eligibility is based on a 12-week look-back period. To qualify, you must average at least 30 hours/week over the prior 12 weeks, with a schedule projected to maintain that level.

Yes — all working time, including training, is compensated. Training is compensated at the supplemental rate.

Our PRN model is perfect for therapists looking for a flexible schedule made up of rescheduled sessions, reassigned clients, or evaluations. There is no recurring caseload in this model and no guaranteed hours. Eligible PRN employees can be asked to cover extended leaves of absence if interested in a larger commitment temporarily.

PRNs primarily fill reassignments, reschedules, and evaluations rather than holding a recurring caseload — unless covering a pre-planned leave of absence. Work is matched as availability opens using state of residence, clinical areas, and insurance enrollments. Initial evaluations can be 60 minutes or split into two 30-minute sessions; ongoing sessions are 30 minutes.
The PRN model does not include guaranteed hours, consistent clients, or a recurring caseload. Instead, you're scheduled as needs arise — with evaluations, rescheduled sessions, or reassignments. Because these can be scheduled the same day, with as little as 1 hour's notice, it's essential to keep your calendar accurate and up to date at all times so we can connect patients to care quickly. If your availability changes, please update your calendar at least 72 hours in advance.
